Two Hotels in Hanoi and four others in Ho Chi Minh City have been selected as the best in Vietnam by readers of U.S. magazine Conde Nast Traveler.
One year on, from the capital Hanoi in the north, to the central coast and down to Ho Chi Minh City, usually called Saigon for short, Vietnam is back to its dizzying levels of intensity, with some deliriously good new hotels.
The Capella Hanoi boldly threw open its gilded doors right opposite the grand dame of Vietnam’s hotels, The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, in early 2021. Never one for understatement, its designer Bill Bensley created a ‘petite auberge’ inspired by the nearby Hanoi Opera House, where he pictured the starlets of the 1920s would congregate.
Each floor has a theme: drama, actors, artists. And each of its 47 rooms highlights one of them, with hand-painted murals and portraits of era-defining figures—like Pablo Picasso on the artists’ floor.
Inside are marble bathrooms, alluring king beds, and wrought-iron balconies on which to Insouciantly sip cocktails shaken yourself at your in-room bar stocked with local spirits and, handily, a beginner’s guide to mixology.
Effortless sophistication meets unexpected design. Embrace the romance of the city and its artistic nuances in this luxury hotel in Hanoi. Moments away from the Hanoi Opera House and Hanoi’s Old Quarter, each of our 47 rooms and suites are individually styled with operatic memorabilia that pay tribute to Opera’s legendary artists, composers, designers and performances. Crafting the perfect stay for you are our Capella Culturist, always on hand to unveil the intricacies of Vietnam’s rich culture.
Inspired by Saigon’s early 20th century Art Deco movement, Mia Saigon seamlessly combines the nostalgia and elegance of French Indochine with modern, understated luxury for a truly distinct boutique luxury hotel experience in Saigon.
Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2 weathered the pandemic better than anywhere in the city, creating its own self-sustaining sanctuary with coffeeshops, bars, restaurants, and even clubs. Mia Saigon (doubles from Rs16,100), on the riverfront, imperiously turns it back on it all to stare dreamily beyond its oversize pool and across the Saigon River. But it’s still a refined artsy hotel from which to explore this part of the city, or to turn your back on it all too and simply relax.
